About This Event
This |Q〉Forest event provides an engaging introduction to the fascinating world of quantum computing and hands-on experience with the renowned Qiskit platform. Over the course of 2 hours, participants will gain a solid foundation in the core concepts of quantum information and explore basic simulations using Qiskit
Key topics:
1. Introduction to quantum information (1 hour):
- Demystifying quantum bits (qubits) and their unique properties.
- Explore superposition and entanglement: the cornerstones of quantum performance.
- Understand quantum measurements and how they differ from classical bits.
- Real-world applications of quantum computers and their potential impact.
2. Simulation in Qiskit (1 hour) by Ms. Indu Radhakrishnan, Research Scholar, PESU ISFCR :
- Setting up the Qiskit environment and understanding its interface.
- Dive into single qubit quantum gates:
- X, Y, Z gates: the basic building blocks.
- Phase gates (P, T), Hadamard gate and rotations (if time permits).
- Simulation and visualisation of gate operations.
- Exploration of two-qubit gates:
- CNOT gate: the quantum controlled NOT operation.
- Swap gate: exchange of qubit states.
- Control Z gate: shared operations based on qubit values.
- Building simple quantum circuits with these gates.
- Running simulations on the cloud simulator and discussing the results.
Learning Outcomes:
- Students will gain a basic understanding of quantum information and its key concepts.
- They will learn how to use Qiskit for simple quantum simulations.
- They will be able to visualise and interpret one- and two-qubit gate operations.
- The event will spark their curiosity and motivate them to delve deeper into the world of quantum computing.
